Multiple sensory cues draw mosquitoes to hosts


Female Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, which spread yellow fever, feed on warm blood in the presence of carbon dioxide. Mutantmosquitoes engineered to be unable to detect carbon dioxide were not as attracted to the blood feeder, suggesting that mosquitoes use a combination of sensory cues — CO2, heat and odor — to detect a host. Generally, the courses can be accessed via YouTube, iTunes or university web sites.

The above dinner held on 8th. October 2010 at the Tropicana Golf and Country Club was a resounding success. So said many of the alumni who attended this dinner. About 180 alumni, family members and friends who came, had a jolly good time, rekindling old friendships or just savouring the pleasure of meeting old friends and for some, making new ones.

A group of ex-students of the Sekolah Menengah Gajah Berang Melaka met on a Saturday afternoon at 2-30 pm on the 26th. January,1985 at the PJ Hilton to resurrect the school's old boys association in Melaka which had been de-registered.
